Romantic Picnic time - Magpie Monday

The twins and I have been away for the week in Cheshire staying with Grandma but this didn't stop me having a little browse around an amazing Antiques Emporium up there.  Most of the items although fab, were priced out of my comfort zone so I only picked up a cup and saucer for £2 and a set of 3 plates for £2 (will post them at a later date) .  Back home and up early on Saturday as I had a mountain of customer orders to post and no food in the house.  (well can't expect hubby and No1 son to shop, clean etc for themselves when I am away)  !  I had the perfect excuse to "have a little look" in my favourite shop after the post office.
I must say I am finding less and less these days on my trips but I did find these pieces which follow a bit of a blue theme and make a lovely selection to include on romantic picnic for two. Hubby and I  don't get much "us" time these days and we both miss and need it.  So I dream if ever there was a chance for us to get away from it all,  I imagine us sat under a weeping willow tree, by a river, sipping wine and eating strawberries.......

Blue Celeste Meakin plates set of four  for £1

Blue pressed glass Cake stand ( used as a plate for the strawberries) £1.50

Two pretty pale blue candle votives for £1

Pretty Bluebells picked from the garden and popped in an old bottle. Simple, stunning and free.

and the song we would play .......

I'm linking up to Magpie Monday  pop over and take a look at all the other great finds.

  2. Oh how beautifully romantic.

I adore the glass cake plate and the candles. The bluebells look stunning in that blue glass bottle.

One question - did you climb the apple tree to take that photo? LOL

Thanks for linking up and welcome home x

  4. Liz - hahahaha! I didn't but hubby got the step ladders out and took it for me. The blossom is in full bloom and looks gorgeous but it was difficult to take the picture from the ground to include the tree too!
See the lengths I go to for your Magpie Monday : ) Came out great though didn't it xx

  12. The blue pressed glass stand is lovely and I could not help but notice your beautiful white picnic cloth, so pretty. David Gray reminds me of when my OH and I got married his album White Ladder was in the charts and I remember playing on Honeymoon! Bx

  14. Becky thank you for your comment - David Gray and this song in particular was the same for us. We had it as our song when we were married.
I collect old linen, when I can find pieces that are not too marked or damaged. I love the work that goes into them. I found this one at a boot sale for a £1. I love it. xx

  15. I've had a wonderful wicker picnic hamper for years with the hope that I will use it for a romantic picnic like this one.

I love the cake plate (great minds thing alike as I got the same one a couple of weeks back although yours was more of a bargain) and also the wee votives. x
